I started off the break hanging out at my friend group's favorite local wing spot. Gotta love that feeling of walking off the campus of your high school knowing you don't have to go back for 2 weeks, and that there is food in the very near future for you. Amelia and Erika and I just sat and talked for awhile. Eventually 2 of our other great guy friends, Jazz and Yemani joined us. It's always a blast hearing about everyone's varying levels of stress due to finals. It was also really nice to remind each other that, thank GOD it was over.
I spent the night at Erika's on Friday night. Having time with my girls is super important to me and I am so lucky to have such hysterical friends. We baked some yummy Christmas cookies and sat around and talked till approx 1am (oops).
On Saturday, after leaving Erika's at around 10:30 am, (people would probably pay a lot of money to see how funny I look coming out of my friends house the next morning, I was even laughing at my self.. I kinda looked like this... https://twitter.com/sienaulrich/status/581259886492717056) I went home and took a much needed relaxing shower. AND THEN WE WENT AND SAW STAR WARS. Fun Fact, I am known for sleeping through action movies when we go and see them in the theater. However, for the first time ever, I stayed awake the whole movie! And, let me say it was a greattttt movie. I literally laid around the rest of the day in my room (get ready to read that line a lot, cause that's pretty much a majority of my break) I went to bed super early on Saturday night due to a bad headache, but hey I got some of the best sleep ever!!
Sunday morning I had the wonderful opportunity to go to church and hear my church's talented choir perform Handel's Messiah. It was such a gorgeous performance that really got me into the holiday spirit. I came home from church and just kinda (once again) laid around for awhile doing absolutely nothing. I went to youth group around 6 and had a great time decorating Christmas cookies with some of my favorite church gals :) and of course, we watched Elf so that put me in a great mood! I ended the day by hanging out with one of my friends and just driving around for about an hour. I came home and (YOU GUESSED IT!) slept.
Now for the part that is probably why you were inclined to read this post in the first place. Today, Monday, I had an appointment with a dermatologist to talk about a dry, itchy spot on my head that's been sticking around for awhile. The doctor didn't seemed to concerned with the spot, but of course she wanted to closure of exactly what it was. Unfortunately for me, that meant having a biopsy that I wasn't planning on having today. Now, if you know me well, you know that ya girl cannot stand needles or blood. So, for that reason, the biopsy was probably the worst thing that has happened to me in awhile. Thankfully, I only got light headed, and I didn't pass out in the doc office this time (we can save other passing out story for later). The doc was able to get the sample she needed, but I was stuck laying on the examination table for a bit sucking on a lollipop trying to prevent gill from passing out. Now, having a biopsy may not seem like a big deal to some, but let me make you aware of one thing, I had no idea what a biopsy was until today. I mean why would I need to know? It's not exactly something I would have learned in my high school education or anywhere else for that matter. Needless to say, it was not what I expected at all. I had no idea I would be getting stitches or that I would be getting numbed up and all that. What a surprise to me. I guess I should brush up on my medical terms a bit more often?!?! Anyways, now that it's over, all I can do is hope for good results from the sample and be thankful that the numbing medicine hasn't worn off.
